To create a front cover illustration and layout for a fantasy novel, The Red Wanderer. The design needed to feature the protagonist travelling off into the distance on a surreal landscape. The back cover and spine were not required by the client as they had already been designed.
I used a mixture of illustration and photo elements to design the cover. I put the titular character front and center to highlight their importance. The unique rock formations create a point, directing the wanderer forward through an uncertain landscape. I had the typography interact subtly with the illustration to bring the design together.
